Want to work out while on the road but want privacy and/or the option to look like hell while you’re doing it? Hilton’s new Five Feet to Fitness hotel rooms may be for you. These rooms offer a compact but comprehensive workout area with an impressive selection of equipment and fitness programs. You’ll pay an extra $45 or so per night over the standard room rate for the luxury of sweating in private.
Your in-room gym is made up of a Wattbike stationary bike and a Gym Rax training station that includes a variety of accessories for both aerobic and strength training. Embedded within the Gym Rax system is a touchscreen display where you can follow guided workout programs or get tutorials on how to use the equipment. Hilton says there are over 200 custom-produced fitness videos available in categories such as Cardio, Cycling, Endurance, Strength, High Intensity Interval Training, Yoga, Stretch and Recovery.
Hilton’s Five Feet to Fitness is currently available at Parc 55 San Francisco and Hilton McLean Tysons Corner in the Washington, D.C. area. Hilton properties in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York and San Diego will soon offer these special rooms as well. Five Feet to Fitness rooms can be booked online or by phone.
Hilton is not the first hotel chain to offer in-room fitness equipment, though Five Feet to Fitness may take this concept the farthest. Westin and Tryp by Wyndham are two competitor chains that also have notable in-room fitness options.
