If you’ve ever been pitched on opening a new credit card while making a purchase, you know that some stores are more than happy to give you instant credit — apply on the spot, get approved, use the card immediately. Below we offer a list of such cards, including regular bank credit cards as well as retail credit cards. Apply online and get shopping today. (Note that instant approval is not guaranteed.)
- American Express Credit Cards – Most American Express cards offer the possibility of an “Instant Card Number” upon approval. Your eligibility is based on the “ability to instantly validate your identity.” If eligible, use the Instant Card Number even before you have the physical card (though possibly not the card’s complete credit line). Instant Card Number cards include: card_name, card_name, card_name, card_name. Terms Apply. American Express is a ProudMoney advertiser.
- Chase Credit Cards – Most Chase consumer credit cards (not business cards) now offer a “Spend Instantly” feature that gives you the potential for instant approval and then same-day usage through digital wallets Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay. (You add your new Chase card to the digital wallet via the Chase mobile app.) Popular Chase credit cards include: card_name, card_name, card_name, card_name.
- card_name – The Bilt Rewards credit card offers rewards on rent purchases charged to the card as well as rewards on other purchases. If instantly approved, you can add the card to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and use it today, before the physical card even arrives.
- Academy Sports Credit Card – This sports & outdoor store offers the possibility of instant approval of your credit card application, and you’ll get $15 off your first purchase (of $15 or more) if you make that purchase today.
- Amazon Prime Visa – Amazon Prime members earn 5% back on their Amazon.com purchases as well as 5% back on Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and on Chase Travel purchases! In Addition: Earn 2% back at gas stations, 2% back at restaurants, 2% back on local transit and commuting (including rideshare), and 1% back on all other purchases. Amazon says: “The majority of applications are responded to in less than 15 seconds.”
- Amazon Store Card – This Amazon credit card promises an “Instant credit decision in as little as 15 seconds.” This card offers 0% financing on larger Amazon.com purchases of $149 or more. (Note that this card is issued by Synchrony Bank and is different from the Amazon Rewards Visa issued by Chase.)
- Apple Card – “Apply, and if approved, you can shop at Apple right away.” Buy your Apple products on credit and earn cash-back rewards on Apple and all other purchases, too.
- Belk Rewards Credit Card – You’ll get 15%-20% off all of your purchases on the day you apply and are approved for this department store credit card.
- Best Buy Credit Cards – Get 5% back in rewards when you “Apply Today, Shop Today” with the credit card of this electronics superstore.
- Big Lots Credit Card – Possible instant approval and you can use the card even before you have it: “As a new cardholder, you can make a purchase in-store using account lookup to complete your purchase.”
- Bloomingdale’s Credit Card – You’ll get 20% off your purchases today AND tomorrow when you apply and get approval for the Bloomie’s credit card.
- Burlington Credit Card – Get 10% off your first in-store purchase “when you open and use the Burlington Credit Card same day of account opening.”
- Disney Visa Credit Cards – If you are instantly approved for one of the two Disney credit cards issued by Chase, you’ll be able to use the card number that same day to book a Disney vacation online. (However, you won’t be able to use it outside of Disney until you get the physical card.)
- Fingerhut – Online home of this long-running catalog retailer lets you “Apply Today, Buy Today” when you are approved for their credit card. Fingerhut is known to work with bad credit & fair credit customers, but they also tend to have significantly higher prices than you’d find elsewhere online.
- Gap Credit Card – Get instant approval and shop right away, today, at Gap as well as sister stores Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta.
- Goodyear Credit Card – If you need tires or other auto services today, Goodyear promises you an instant decision on its credit card and says, “If approved, you can start shopping in-store or online today.”
- Home Depot Credit Card – Last we looked you could save up to $100 off of your Home Depot purchases if you get instantly approved and buy today. (Or actually anytime within 30 days of opening the card account.)
- IKEA Visa Credit Card – When you open and use your IKEA Visa credit card in the same day, you’ll get $25 off that day’s IKEA purchases. Also offers other IKEA rewards on an ongoing basis based on your card purchases.
- JCPenney Credit Card – Save 15%-35% off your purchases when you open a JCPenney credit card and use it today.
- Kohl’s Card – Get 25%-35% off (depending on the current offer) of your Kohl’s purchases when you apply and are approved today.
- L.L. Bean Credit Card – “Save 15% on today’s purchase upon approval and use of your new L.L. Bean Mastercard.”
- Lowe’s Credit Card – “Get 20% off your purchase today” when you open and use a new Lowe’s Advantage Card credit card account. That tells you instant approval is a good possibility.
- Macy’s Credit Card – You’ll save 25% on purchases you make today and tomorrow if you apply and are instantly approved for this department store’s credit card.
- Michaels Credit Card – You can apply, be approved, and use the Michaels card on the same day, with a 20% discount on your first purchase with the card.
- Neiman Marcus Credit Card – This store credit card gives you 5,000 points in its InCircle rewards program when you open an account and make a purchase on the same day. Also is interchangeable with the Bergdorf Goodman card mentioned above; either card is accepted at both stores.
- Nordstrom Credit Card – “If approved, you can sign in to access your card online and start shopping right away.” You’ll also get a $40 Note (rewards certificate) when you make a purchase with the card on the same day you are approved.
- Prosper Credit Card – This Mastercard credit card that targets people rebuilding their credit allows you to use your card immediately for purchases online or through mobile wallets.
- Ross Dress For Less Credit Card – “Save 10% today on a Ross Dress for Less purchase when you open and pay with a Ross Mastercard® Credit Card or Ross Credit Card!”
- Sandals Credit Card – Sandals resorts offers a rewards credit card with this marketing message: “Apply now and you could get a decision in as little as 60 seconds. If you are approved today, use your Sandals Visa® card immediately to book your next Sandals vacation and start earning points faster.”
- Scheels Credit Card – Offers instant approval and you can use it instantly — and last we looked you’d get an immediate $70 e-gift card to spark your spending.
- Sephora Credit Card – You’ll earn 25% off your first Sephora purchase when you are approved instantly and use your Sephora Visa or store-only Sephora credit card for a purchase today.
- Shop Your Way Mastercard – You can apply, get approved, and use this Sears-affiliated credit card today when you apply via Sears online or in store.
- SoFi Credit Card – If you’re approved instantly, you can begin to use the card via a digital wallet (Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay) while waiting for the physical credit card. You’ll earn 2% cash back on every purchase with the card.
- Target Credit Card – If you are approved instantly online, you can use your Target Red Card credit card immediately at Target.com. If approved in a Target store, you may be given a temporary card number that can be used at the store or online that same day.
- Ulta Credit Card – If you are approved instantly, you can use the card immediately and get 20% off your first Ulta Beauty purchase.
- Venmo Visa – Cash back credit card offers the potential for instant approval and then it can be used for online purchases immediately. Real-world purchases will have to wait until the physical card arrives.
- Verizon Visa – Offers the potential for instant approval and you can use it today for Verizon purchases. (However, for purchases outside of Verizon.com or Verizon stores, you’ll need to wait for the card to show up in the mail.)
- Walgreens Credit Card – If you apply online, the Walgreens website says you can “Get a decision in 80 seconds or less and, if approved, use your card right away.” You can also get a $25 reward if you do use the card right away.
- Walmart Credit Card – “Start earning cash back on purchases today upon approval.”
- Wayfair Credit Card – If you are approved instantly, the card is added to your Wayfair account and you can use it at Wayfair today. (If you qualify for the Wayfair Mastercard, you can use it at Wayfair immediately but will have to wait for the card to arrive by mail to use it at other places where Mastercard is accepted.)
