Kroger is jumping into the proprietary payment game today with the launch of Kroger Pay, its new mobile payment app. In addition, a new rewards debit card will be added to the Kroger lineup of payment cards. Both are rolling out in a limited way to begin, with wider availability beginning in the spring of 2019.

  • Kroger Pay is available as part of the standard Kroger app for iOS or Android. It produces a single-use QR code that combines payment card information and Kroger loyalty card information and digital coupons to speed checkout at Kroger stores. Kroger credit and debit cards may be used to enhance rewards on purchases, but most any debit or credit card can be used.
  • The new Kroger Rewards debit card connects directly to the customer’s checking account. It provides Kroger fuel points and other discounts, with rewards being doubled when the card is used as the payment method in the Kroger Pay app.
