Marriott will launch a home-rental business to take on Airbnb, with initial details to be announced possibly as soon as next month, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal.

Customers of the new business would earn Marriott Bonvoy rewards points when staying at these rentals, according to the report.

Marriott has done a pilot program in Europe, working with property management companies to offer home stays. Assuming they use the same strategy in the United States, it is likely that Marriott will initially be a small player when compared to Airbnb, which allows any individual to offer their home or apartment — though many of Airbnb’s partners have become large enough to work through property management companies themselves. Many properties are likely to be listed with both over time.
