Starbucks and its credit card partner Chase are no longer accepting applications for the Starbucks Visa credit card. Whether the card is permanently discontinued or will return with a new rewards formula and/or new card-issuing partner is unclear.
Reaching out to Starbucks today, I was told that card applications had stopped being accepted as of June 1, 2022. The card was originally launched in February of 2018.
While Starbucks is obviously a popular retailer, the Starbucks Rewards Visa was underwhelming due mostly to its $49 annual fee. With so many generous cash-back credit cards on the market with no annual fee, it was less than competitive. Perhaps a revamp of the card is in the works, but so far Starbucks is not saying whether it will return or not.
