Stores with Senior Discounts

Many stores offer special senior discounts, either every day or on specific days of the week/month. You usually need to be at least 55 to get these, but the minimum age varies. Some of these are only for AARP members, but most are for anyone who qualifies as a “senior citizen” according to each store’s rules. The list:

  • American Discount Foods – Every Monday is Senior Day, with a 10% discount on all items for those 62 and older who provide a valid ID.
  • Bealls Florida – Every Tuesday is Bealls Day, which usually includes a discount for those 50 and over. Last time we looked, Bealls was offering a 15% discount on Bealls Day.
  • Bealls Outlet – Offers a Monday Club discount of 15% for those 50 and over. Must have the One Card loyalty card to get the discount.
  • Bi-Lo – Get a senior discount of 5% off every Wednesday with the Senior BonusCard.
  • DeCicco Family Markets – Offers a discount on regular priced items for seniors 62 years or older on a designated day per week, but the exact percentage of that discount is unknown and may vary, so ask at your local store. You must have a registered DeCicco Preferred Card to get the discount.
  • Fred Meyer – Fred Meyer has offered a senior discount in the past, and we THINK it is still happening. Specifically, the discount gives people 55 and over 10% off private brand/store brand groceries as well as most apparel, shoes, home items, electronics and more. This discount is only on the first Tuesday of every month.
  • Goodwill – Every Goodwill store is independent, with its own policies on senior discounts. However, many Goodwill stores do offer senior discounts on certain days of the week, usually Tuesday or Wednesday. You’ll need to contact your local store for senior discount information.
  • Harris Teeter – Get a 5% discount on Thursdays if you are 60 or older.

  • JoAnn Fabrics Stores – Jo-Ann Fabrics stores offer occasional Senior Discount Days, but not on a regular schedule, so you may want to join their email list or check their Facebook page to be alerted for discount days.
  • Kohl’s – Offers a 15% discount every Wednesday inside Kohl’s stores to customers aged 60 or higher.
  • Rite Aid – Get 20% off anything in the store on the first Wednesday of the month. Must be 65 or older and be signed up for the Rite Aid wellness+ card and enrolled in the wellness65+ program.
  • Ross Dress For Less – Get 10% off on Tuesdays if you are 55 or older. You may need to sign up in a Ross store to get this or it may just be given if you show proof of age. Contact your local Ross store for specific details.
  • Savers – Seniors save 30% on Tuesdays. However, we are unsure at what age Savers considers you a senior.
  • Walgreens – Walgreens offers a monthly Seniors Day (for 55+ or AARP members) that offers discounts in store and online on certain days. You must be a Walgreens Balance Rewards member to get the discount.

Stores that have been reported to have senior discounts but that we could not verify:

  • Albertsons – Some store MAY offer (or may have offered in the past) a 10% senior discount on the first Wednesday of the month, but we can’t find evidence that this still exists anywhere.
  • Banana Republic – This store told us they do NOT offer senior discounts, even though other websites say that they do.
  • Big Lots – As far as we can tell, Big Lots does NOT offer the 10% senior discount that some other websites have reported.
  • Food Lion – We’ve seen this store listed elsewhere as having a senior discount, but we can find no evidence that this is true.
  • Home Depot – Does not offer a senior discount as far as we can tell.
  • Kmart – Seems to have offered a senior discount in the past, but not anymore.
  • Kroger – Kroger has slowly cut off senior discounts across the country; we don’t know of any Kroger stores that still offer them, but it’s worth asking at your local store.
  • Lowe’s – Has a 10% discount for military veterans (or active military), but there is no discount specifically for all seniors.
  • Marshalls – Does not offer a senior discount as far as we can tell.
  • Publix – Used to offer 5% senior discount on Wednesdays, but seems to be gone in most areas. Check your local store to be sure, but we think this one is gone completely.
  • Safeway – May offer senior discounts on a regional or per-store basis, but there is no blanket senior discount for all stores. Contact your local Safeway to find out its policy.
  • Target – While it has been reported that Target may offer a discount for people 60 and over, we have not found evidence that this is true.
  • TJ Maxx – MAY offer a 10% discount on Tuesdays for seniors, but we could not verify this to be true.
  • Walmart – Despite other sources mentioning potential Walmart senior discounts, we have not been able to verify this.
