Which Capital One credit cards are metal?

If you can only get behind a credit card made of metal, here’s the short list of Capital One cards that get the metal treatment:

card_name

card_name – Why We Like It: Offers the desirable features of more expensive travel cards, but strips away the fluff to keep the annual fee reasonable. That annual fee is annual_fees, but you can get up to $300 in travel credits when you book through Capital One Travel, and there is an Early Spend Bonus: bonus_miles_full The Anniversary Miles Bonus kicks in starting on your first anniversary, with 10,000 bonus miles (equal to $100 towards travel).

In terms of rewards on everyday purchases, this heavy metal Capital One card earns unlimited 10 miles per dollar in purchases on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and 5X miles on flights booked through Capital One Travel, plus unlimited 2X miles on all other purchases. And don’t forget airport lounge access through the Priority Pass network & the new Capital One Lounges, plus quite a bit more.

card_name – What To Know: If the Venture X listed above has too high of an annual fee for you, this alternate Capital One travel credit card still offers plenty at a more do-able annual_fees annual fee. (It’s a little lighter on the metal, too, when compared to the Venture X.) Earn unlimited 2 miles per dollar on every purchase (but 5 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel), and use those miles to pay for travel or even transfer them into the loyalty programs of Capital One travel partners. Other perks include a credit toward your Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application (up to $100 when paid with the card), Hertz Five Star status, no foreign transaction fees on purchases outside of the United States and more. EARLY SPEND BONUS: bonus_miles_full.

Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card – What To Know: Earn 4% cash back on dining, entertainment & popular streaming services, plus 3% at grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart® and Target®), and 1% on all other purchases. Annual fee of $95.

While this metal Capital One card is very generous in terms of rewards on popular spending categories, we actually think most people will get greater benefit from the card_name, which offers a bit less in terms of rewards but has no annual fee. (Alas, the no-annual-fee card is not made of metal, so you’ll need to factor that into your decision as well. 😀)

  1. Couple questions. I was pre approved for the Venture Card, could I assume based on that I’d have good odds in obtaining the venture x? Also, my Venture pre approval included a 100k bonus. Would you take the Venture with 100k or the Venture X with 75k?

    1. I would think yes to the Venture X, although pre approvals are not guaranteed. I am not a huge fan of the regular Venture Card in terms of everyday rewards, but an extra $250 of travel as a bonus is tough to pass up. It depends on what you want, but over the long term I see Venture X as sort of paying for itself in terms of credits vs. the annual fee, where the Venture becomes a bit like paying $95 for a 2% reward card (after that big bonus of course).
