The American Express® Gold Card does not include Priority Pass or other airport lounge access. (At least this is true for the U.S. American Express® Gold Card — there are other Amex Gold versions in other countries that do offer limited Priority Pass memberships.)
Amex Gold Doesn’t, but The Amex Platinum Does
If you want Priority Pass as well as access to other airport lounges, The Platinum Card® from American Express is the way to go. It offers the Global Lounge Collection, which includes Priority Pass Select as well as the American Express Centurion network of lounges, Delta Sky Club lounges (when flying Delta), and more. (Amex says there are over 1400 airport lounges in the Global Lounge Collection.)
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express also offers the same Global Lounge Collection, with access to Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select, etc.
Or Pair the Gold Card with This Other Low Annual Fee Amex Card That DOES Have Priority Pass!
The Hilton Honors Surpass Card, with just a $95 annual fee, offers a Priority Pass Select membership that includes 10 complimentary lounge visits each year, after you’ve enrolled with Priority Pass.
If you held both the American Express® Gold Card and the Hilton Honors Surpass Card, the combined annual fee would be $345 ($250 + $95), still less than The Platinum Card® from American Express alone, and you’d still get a good number of lounge visits along with lots of points earning opportunities on everyday purchases.
While it’s true that Priority Pass Select does not give you all of the lounges you’d get with the Global Lounge Collection included with The Platinum Card® from American Express, if you prefer the American Express® Gold Card but would also like to snag a few lounge visits throughout the year at a reasonable cost, pairing the American Express® Gold Card with the Hilton Honors Surpass Card could make a lot of sense.
Good luck on your approval for the American Express® Gold Card!
